An Oklahoma bill that will authorize the use of silencers for hunting on one’s own property is making headway. I hope this passes, and they finally decriminalize and de-tax these clever and useful devices. If so, I can think of quite a few of my guns that will be getting cans! I want to go hunting without ear protection – it’s easier to listen for prey that way.

  1. Isn’t federal law still in the way?
This sounds like the state marijuana legislation; states decriminalize, the feds still prosecute…
I’m just wondering – I’m all for it.

    • You can own and use suppressors under federal law. You just have to pay a $200 stamp.

Washington we could own and even place them on our weapon, but if you discharged the weapon it was a Gross Misdemeanor. We finally got that fixed last year.

  2. Not only that, but it’s safer for everyone else around you, including those who may not be hunting.

It always amazes me the number of people who seem to think outlawing and restricting a safety device is a smart idea.
